LA Style: Go Native.

franklinKPIf you’re a girl and you like clothes, I have a declaration. I think it’s impossible to walk by Native on Franklin without buying something. The clothes are so cute and affordable and the staff so friendly, you’d have to be a budget nazi to pass this place up. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve gone home with a dress or a bracelet when my only goal was a magazine from Daily Planet.

On Saturday, my friend Stacey and I walked by Native on our way to Bourgeois Pig. I should say we tried to walk by Native. We never made it far enough to have our coffee. Lured in by the $20 rack, we spent the whole 40 minutes we had to kill before heading to the Arclight buying clothing instead of caffeinating ourselves. Totally worth it.

The store is small but packed with cuteness. Casual clothing and going-out duds share rack space with a huge selection of hats, purses and jewelry. I wanted to buy everything and had to limit myself to 3 items so I’d be able to afford my Sex and the City ticket! I noticed that every girl that burst out of the dressing room looked really cute in whatever she tried on. How is this possible? Is it magic? Is it the lighting? Or is the buyer for Native just very talented at stocking the store with wearable, flattering items that the typical LA gal can rock without much effort? It might be all three. My pal Stacey left with 2 awesome dresses and a cute white top, all for under a hundred bucks. I bought a dress, a gorgeous floaty top and the cutest obi belt I’ve ever seen, made of recycled leather.

If you’re going to Native, I recommend trying to find parking on Tamarind or over on the street near Mayfair Market. Weekdays are always good but the weekend crowd isn’t that bad. Sign the mailing list to find out about the cocktail parties they have every other month or so. Free booze and drastic markdowns. Awesome.
