Doggie Style: Fashion for Fido

Okay, so maybe you don’t necessarily want to dress your pooch up in a skull hoodie like the pug to the right. But, sometimes you might want to treat your dog to a new fly collar or a hip bed. Dog Boutiques are fun for the whole family. You can shop, bring your dog and get cool things you would never find at Petco. Win-win, right?

There are tons of frou-frou boutiques in LA to choose from. Here are my top 3:

  • Tails of Santa Monica This place rocks. It’s right on Main Street, near Holy Guacamole and across the street from The Library Ale House. Just think, you can go get a buzz on and then shop for a new collar for your dog. There are hemp collars, plastic collars, leather skull collars and jewel-encrusted collars. You’ll definitely find something you haven’t already seen on every other canine at the dog park. This place also has quite a selection of dog beds you won’t be embarrassed to have in your living room. The owner is usually there. She’s sweet, helpful and she loves dogs. Cool place. Oh, and they have cat stuff too.

  • Tailwaggers I love this place. It has pretty much anything you need to make your dog’s life better. Bring him/her along and they’ll get a free treat. Load up on natural dog food, good-for-them treats and toys that your dog will be proud to destroy. They also offer teeth cleaning, vaccines and grooming. Full service fun for Fido!

  • Catts & Doggs Pet Boutique Conveniently located on Hyperion in Silverlake, this is a great one-stop pet shop. Get doggie clothing, leashes, toys and treats, all with a smile. My dog loves trotting into this place. He thinks it’s the coolest. They offer grooming while you wait and they have the best selection of gourmet doggie treats in the neighborhood. My dog’s last birthday cake was an eclair from here. It looked better than most of the stuff I eat. One drawback is they don’t take American Express and that little parking lot is often whack. Park on Hyperion and walk on over.

I have been looking for good dog boutiques in L.A forever! I usually order online from http://www.moderntails.com, but now that I know these exist, I might just stop by. Good post!
