We Los Angelenos are now blessed with enough H&Ms to satisfy our thirst for cute, cheap fashion. I’m not gonna lie, for years there I was feeling pretty gypped. I’d travel to Amsterdam or San Francisco and buy up as much stuff as I could fit in my suitcase, secretly cursing the local women that could drop by weekly, or daily if they felt like it. Now, we have an H&M in the Beverly Center, on Colorado in Old Town Pasadena and at the new shopping center, Americana in Glendale. After doing much research at each location, I proclaim the new Americana location to be the winner. Here’s why:
It’s big. I mean, huge. A complete guy section, kids clothes galore and more fashion that you can shake a stick at. My friend and I stopped by this location after lunch at The Cheesecake Factory the other day. We had fifteen minutes to shop. I ran through the store, easily locating the $6 t-shirts my husband loves and some skinny jeans for my best friend’s 14-month-old daughter. I had enough time left over to score some giant silver hoop earrings, a couple of headbands ($1.90 each, baby!) and some awesome silver and gold bangles. (Yet another reason to heart H&M, their bangles come in sizes. Now us XS wrist gals can have well-adorned arms like the rest of you!)
Another argument in favor of this location is, well, location. It’s easy to get to (off Brand in Glendale) and it’s right next to a giant Forever 21. Across the way is Tiffany & Co and a cute little Stuart Weitzman. There are several bars and restaurants at Americana to keep your husband occupied while you spend, spend, spend! And, let’s face it, at H&M, you could buy an armload of clothes for less than a night out at the Arclight.
But, the main reason to shop this new H&M is that it’s new. And shiny. It hasn’t been ruined by years of crazed women fighting over cheap frocks and discarding lingerie they don’t want in the accessory section. It’s clean, y’all. For now. So, visit sooner than later.
