cofeecompetitionbean08-06-13First of all, thank you to all of the amazing cafes that competed in our coffee competition. We sought out the best coffee shop Los Angeles and found a number of astounding cafes all over the city. Every single one of the cafe’s listed in our coffee competition is a great place to visit for amazing atmosphere, talented Batista’s and of course, a great cup of coffee. We decided the only way to judge who has the best cafe in Los Angeles was to ask the people. And although many of you love your own cafe, there can only be one winner. The people have spoken. Our winner is….

Infuzion Cafe in Santa Monica!

Congratulations! Although it looked like Swork had it, in the last few remaining moments, Infuzion Cafe managed to jump ahead and win with an amazing 45% of your votes! Congratulations to Swork as well for a great fight and finishing with 39% of the votes.

As many of you know the cafe’s were not the only one’s who could win, you also had chance to win a $30 gift certificate just for leaving a comment for your favorite cafe. To see if you won check out the list of gift certificate winners here!

I love going to Infuzion Cafe in the mornings. The staff is always very friendly, upbeat and helpful with a bright smile to make your mornings better (even at 7am).

The coffee beans they use do not give you that bitter taste that you get from bigger coffee chains. It always tastes fresh no matter what time of the day it is and they have good pastries to go accompany your coffee. In the afternoons, when I don’t feel like coffee, I usually go in for a flavored Iced Tea which they make to order with any flavor that you like, my favorite being peach mango, and serve it to you in a plastic sealed cup making it so easy to travel with.

On any ordinary morning, Infuzion Cafe creates great coffee, tea, muffins, and friendly conversation to such a large degree that regular patrons constantly fly by like bees to honey.

FUNNEL MILL in Santa Monica befriends customers, sharing with them a passion and knowledge of coffee from bean to cup. Owners JC, Teresa and Joe educate coffee lovers, transforming them into connoisseurs. Their beans are perfectly roasted, perfectly brewed and always brilliantly paired with treats that elicit the full spectrum of flavor nuance inherent to the bean and the brew. At FUNNEL MILL, their beans are inspirations; their brews a mastery of the craft.

the quality of the coffee at Infuzion is not to be scientifically based alone. Henry, the proprietor, pours his obsessive and warmth into each cup so that it never tastes bitter, only sweet. This ambiance is transmitted by the people he hires and the diligence of his training.
Did you know that he even makes sure that the hole in the lid of each cup is placed 180 degrees away from the cup’s seam to avoid even the slightest possibility that a customer’s drink could leak!

i’d really like to see intelligensia win. the coffee is absolutely the best, the shop is great to hang and they make the prettiest designs in the foam. but whatever you do, don’t try it out, the lines are long enough already…

  • 15 Coffee Lover // Jun 16, 2008 at 1:22 pm

Definitely LA Mill…. great coffee, great atmos and decor. Lovely staff though the food is overpriced…. Intelligentsia is a close second but the staff are RUDE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and 2 people to do 1 coffee is just silly…

  • 17 Charity // Jun 18, 2008 at 8:31 am

Infuzion Cafe makes my day! This is by far the best coffee place in Santa Monica. The drinks are always delicious and they offer a large selection of premium coffees and teas. Not to mention boba and fabulous iced drinks and teas. Henry, the owner, gives each customer personal attention and always has a great attitude. The quality and service at Infuzion is top notch and they won’t let you leave without being completely satisfied. Please support this great coffee shop!

the funnel mill is the best. the owners are kind and welcoming, even inviting me in before the store opens. the meditative environment, coupled with the excellent, fresh coffee and tea and the super conscious friendly staff, make the funnel mill number one in my book. namaste!

A few years back a few of my buddies and I wandered around Santa Monica looking for Starbucks. After searching a few blocks we ended up in front of small coffee shop owned by three enterprising young men (Henry and his two friends). Infuzion Cafe just barely opened for business and did not even have their store sign installed just a banner tied on a string, the kind you see in swap meets. Henry asked each one of us a few questions on our taste preference and tailored our coffee drinks individually. AMAZING!!! would be an understatement.

  • 23 Thomas // Jun 20, 2008 at 1:25 pm

Kudos to Damon and the Sworkissimo crew at Swork/Eagle Rock! The most delicious coffee drinks, always prepared perfectly, combined with friendly customer service. Where else can you find a hangout for the stroller set and their ‘rents, students, writers and artists, and just plain folks? Swork is #1 in my book!

  • 24 Steph* // Jun 20, 2008 at 1:38 pm

Infuzion Cafe is definitely top dog. Henry’s really what makes this place extra special. My coworkers and I just love the fact that Infuzion is nearby, not a chain, has a fabulous assortment of coffees and teas, and, again, it has Henry.

Try Henry’s special tea blend (my usual order): Orange, Strawberry, Pineapple Greent tea, over ice, no boba. One sip, and you’ll be hooked.

If you’re into the “Cheers” like atmosphere, where everyone knows your name, look no further than Swork in Eagle Rock. The community’s hotspot, I can walk through the door and be greeted with a warm and friendly smile everytime. On top of that, the coffee is the best around! With the giant green monster across the street, Swork has its own vibe of down to earth everyday people that leave you with a glad you came feeling. Swork is undoubtly #1

  • 26 BrYan // Jun 20, 2008 at 4:57 pm

Swork hits the spot, no matter what the mood. I have met friend there, studied there, and just chilled there and have always had a pleasant experience. And with their unique lattes and other coffee drinks, you’re sure to find something that a hit with the taste buds, too. I was in Maui a couple of months ago and since being back I have been craving all things (pineapple and/or) coconut, so my current fav at Sworks is the coconut mocha latte — its the best blend of coffee and coconut I have found!

  • 27 Genaro // Jun 20, 2008 at 5:16 pm

I agree with Wes’s comments Get a large americano in a medium cup with whipped cream and your good for the rest of the day

I don’t even like coffee shops but Infuzion Cafe is the bomb. It’s boba tea is the best in town. Plus, Henry lets me hang out there all day and read. I feel like I’m in Paris or something? And if I want to converse, they’re some really smart people there to shoot the shit with. Thanks, Henry. It all starts at the top.

I love Swork! Swork is the best, I love Sworkland it’s great to keep my little brothers occupied while I Work On some Homework on my laptop with the Free Wi-Fi! My favorite drink is the Caramel Vanilla Latte, on cold days, if it’s really hot ill get it iced, and if I’m really tired ill get a caramel Vanilla Iced Americano! Oh yea and the customer service is great, always polite and smiling! I never go anywhere else for my coffee! I think I’ll go there now!

Intelligentsia is the coffee anchor of the fine foods revolution that is transforming Silverlake. Their business is coffee, and only coffee, and they know how to do it with foodie flair. Not only did they rescue a great Sunset Junction space, they have brought urban vitality to a languishing district with a simple committment to coffee excellence.

  • 34 Summer // Jun 22, 2008 at 5:13 pm

Infuzion coffee gives the best buzz hands down. The owner, Henry, knows his stuff, and has created an entire community around his java and boba - he also makes it a point to know everyone’s name. Plus the coffee is organic and there’s Wifi =)
