  • Three bodies found in Riverside home - Police are investigating the death of two men and one both who were found dead today in a Riverside home. At 7pm Tuesday, police were called when a woman ran out of house screaming. The deputies saw three people, including a boy between 10 and 13 years old. He couldn’t say how the victims died. Investigators were questioning the woman while trying to determine whether a warrant was needed.
  • Women plead not guilty in torture of young boy - The three women accused of torturing a 5-year-old boy, have all pleaded not guilty to the charges. A Compton court commissioner accepted the pleas Wednesday in an abuse and torture case against the boy’s mother, 24-year-old Starkeisha Brown, her live-in girlfriend, Krystle Matthews, and a baby sitter. The mother could face 25 years to life in prison if convicted. It is claimed that the women, starved him, burned his genitals with cigarettes and forced him to place his hands on a hot stove.

  • Police dog killed from heat while on duty - Police are investigating the death of a 5-year-old Belgian Malinois police dog, Forest who was found Friday in the back of his handler’s squad car in Alpine, dead. Temperatures were more than 100 degrees outside and it is believed that is wahts may have caused the dogs death. A necropsy has been ordered to determine the cause of death. The dog’s handler, a 22-year veteran, has been put on desk duty pending a decision. Two other Belgian Malinois police dogs have died in recent years of an intestinal condition common to the breed, San Diego officials said.
  • Cats found disemboweled - La Quinta police, were investigating the apparent killing of two cats when another one was found disemboweled in the owner’s front yard. All three killings happened within a mile radius of one another. The owner told police his cat was found in front of his home with its stomach slit open. Another gutted cat was found May 30 along Desert Stream Drive near La Quinta Park, and the other feline was found shot May 29 in the gated community of Starlight Dunes. All three killings happened within a mile radius of one another. North La Quinta residents should try and keep an “extra close eye on their pets and pay attention to what’s going on in their neighborhood” until police figure out who is behind this.
