Yeeeee-Hawwwwwww kiddos!
The reality round up is here again, and even through the reality shows of summer are slowing down a few strong one’s remain, like HELL’S KITCHEN (love it), AMERICA’S GOT TALENT, and I SURVIVED A JAPANESE GAMESHOW. There are also a few yet to come, the late bloomers will premiere in the next couple of weeks like GREATEST AMERICAN DOG, BIG BROTHER X (10), JINGLES, and CELEBRITY FAMILY FEUD. Now, I have to admit I love HELL’S KITCHEN and I think the star, chef GORDON RAMSEY, is a lovable dickhead from England even if he curses and throws stuff and the contestants. In FOX’S hit cooking-reality show, chef Gordon Ramsey is a drill sergeant type of chef screaming at the contestants’, a.k.a: Oafs, losers, A-holes, as he struggles to make a quality product…and good television. He also tried to please “swank” diners with a meal that doesn’t suck, or taste like ash. This year’s contestants were obnoxious moms for Jersey, and more than one fat-disgusting person that I wouldn’t want in the same room as my food, but under Ramsey’s supervision I would try the meal. The show is nearing its end and the competition is heating up, but still worth checking out, if you like food, restaurants, incompetent fat people or mean British A-holes.
We’ll start with the new installment of BIG BROTHER (X, or 10) as there broadcast dates are approaching - only BBX has a date set - and little web info, but seeing how I was a BBX semi-finalist I can tell you there rebuild of the BB house is probally further along than the cast. The :30 spots they are running are a montage of past house-guests, but I can say this season will offer an older set of contestants.
JINGLES I know a little about from the CBS site, just this statement “Have you ever watched a commercial and thought, ‘I could come up with a better ad’? Well, here’s your chance. Reality-show hit-maker Mark Burnett introduces JINGLES.” Too bad, Burnett wins, or looses with Jingles. The Craig’s list ads were casting “teams of three” as one, or all, who will sing a jingle for a certain product that all three teammates come up with. The Craig’s list post was put up repeatedly, and for a loooooong time. So was the CL post’s for GREATEST AMERICAN DOG which is a contest pitting dog owners - that think they’re dog is the most talented in America, and compete against each other in teams of two (human and dog) for the grand prize…apparently some cash and some kibble.
In NBC’S latest schlock to hit your television in it’s Summer of Terror campaign they roll out CELEBRITY FAMILY FEUD hosted by the ever-so-creepy AL ROKER, the Star Jones’esque skinny Al, not fun & fat Al. It’s basically the family feud played with (sudo) celebrity’s teams like the OFFICE (Without the stars), Team Playboy (without Heff), and Team Knight (With Peter Brady). See it, done it, hate it, so we’ll move on to a torturous show from Japan…I SURVIVED A JAPANESE GAMESHOW which is a game show within a game show as contestants form the USA are taken to Japan to be on a Japanese game show. It’s right down there with WIPEOUT but, after a bad day with inflated gas prices, asshole bosses, and the ever increasing threat of teen-impregnation there is something pure and refreshing about some dude getting kicked in the nuts. HA HA! Sadly, after seeing it one time the gig is up, so it becomes what it really is, stupid.
AMERICA’S GOT TALENT, however is a funny, heartfelt, and very entertaining show. I watched last summer where some very talented people really had a chance to showcase that talent and live there dreams. Of course the first several weeks are mixed with talent and crap, again, like the guy getting kicked in the nuts, sometimes laughing at other stupid people makes us forget how stupid we really are. AGT is a worth watching in convenience and towards the end will have (at least) your attention is not have you rooting for a talent, unknown, contestant.
So to recap, HELLS KITCHEN (yes), Greatest Dog (?), AMERICA’S GOT TALENT (yes), I SURVIVED A JAPANESE GAMESHOW (Yes, but only once), BBX (Maybe) and JINGLES (Probably not).
