la_theater.jpgLos Angeles must be on a comedy kick because the theater still seems full of great comic options! While comedic tastes may be different for everyone, shows range from slapstick to absurd to macabre and morbid. Read below for more information about Touched in the Head of Elizabeth Otero, Recent Tragic Events, They’re Just Like Us, and Glorious!

Touched in the Head of Elizabeth Otero - A night of sketch comedy, “Touched in the Head of Elizabeth Otero” features a compilation of pieces written by Elizabeth Otero that approach everything from politics to family stories to scathing social commentary. Expect a night of silliness, but most importantly, look forward to some insightful slices of life.

June 26th - July 12th. Thursdays, Fridays, & Saturdays: 8 P.M., One 5 P.M. performance on Sunday, June 29th.

Recent Tragic Events - 9/11’s effect upon American lives is undeniable, so imagine confronting the ultimate social nightmare after that tragic event: a blind date! While the show’s premise may seem gimmicky, searing black comedy and absurdity makes this show a must-see for anyone with a penchant for the kooky and macabre.

They’re Just Like Us - While Britney Spears has not performed any egregiously outrageous antics recently, her consistent creation of gossip-monger fodder cannot be denied. “They’re Just Like Us” satirizes gossip and celebrity obsession such as that especially associated with the classy Ms. Spears. The main moral of this West-Coast premiere show? The line between a celebrity and an ordinary person is not all that great because, admit it, you slurp down Frappuccinos just as frequently as Britney.

Glorious - No one can assess his or her own talents completely objectively, but avoiding delusional notions of grandeur is a completely different story. Florence Foster Jenkins, a 1940s singer, fancied herself the decade’s greatest soprano when, in reality, everyone else viewed her as a total flop. Witnessing narcissism, especially when based on a true story, always proves an intriguing experience.
