So much for Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa “Operation Smooth Ride.” Anyone living in LA knows that this city is full of potholes. No matter what anyone seems to do they just keep appearing. So how can you make a difference? Mark your local potholes! Many of you know your local potholes in depth. Your foot automatically starts to break as you pass certain corners anticipating the minor (or major) thud you’re about to experience. Other times you get caught completely off guard. That’s when you hear the major SCRAPING sound that you’re bound to regret later.
Well here is your chance to help out your fellow drivers by adding your local potholes to a map! You can list potholes you know about or find streets that you may want to avoid. Potholes are not only bad for your car, but often cause traffic, and avoiding a pothole, may save you time and aggravation during traffic.
This map gives you exact location and some come with little notes such as “This large pothole at the SW corner gets paved and repaved only to come back in a week or so due to water and high traffic. It slows down right turns increasing traffic at the location” or “W/B Curb lane next to concrete gutter. 6″ wide by 4 Ft. long and 2 to 3 Ft. deep. Large void under asphalt. Serious hazard for Motorcycle or Bicycle. Called in twice!”
