Sometimes you feel like going crazy shopping. You know ‘crazy shopping’, where you run from store to store in a frenzy, buying up whatever strikes your fancy and filling that hole in your soul that subconsciously knows that life is meaningless with fabulous merchandise? Ha, I’m telling you how to fill your soul hole. That’s funny. Anyway, if you’re like me, a mall usually won’t cut it. So, I’ve come up with a shopping itinerary for you. You can save gas, get your shop on and do your part for the economy. Don’t worry about a thing, I planned your day for you. (Make sure you have several hours and are wearing your fun hat.) Here are my picks for Sunset Blvd.
1. Off Broadway Shoe Warehouse
You should start with the biggest place, which in this case, just happens to be a shoe store as well. Yes! Way to begin your shopping day with a bang! This joint is the size of a football field and completely packed with cute shoes. I’ve bought everything from running shoes to stilettos here. New Balance to Irregular Choice. Steve Madden to Charles David. You get the idea. The shoes are always a good price and they give you a discount for next time on your receipt (I think it’s like 8 % or something.) There’s a huge parking lot in the back so you have no excuse for not hitting this place up. It’s across the street from In & Out, if you’re lost.

2. DNA Clothing
Take a left on Sunset and continue on your shopping adventure. Next stop, DNA Clothing, which might make my Top 10 Places on Earth list if I were to have such a list, which I wouldn’t because that’s just silly. Hehe. It’ll be to the right, near Toi Thai Restaurant. Park on Sunset or a side street then hurry inside to check out the bargains. DNA always has designer clothing on the cheap. I get all my jeans here, as well as feed my hunger for Free People shirts and Tulle coats. Everything is drastically discounted. I’ve even seen Rock & Republic jeans here for under $90. Oh yeah, there’s guy’s clothes too.

3. Abott’s Habit
By now, you totally need a coffee break. Leave the car where it is and walk across the street to Abott’s Habit. No, it’s not the original (that’s in Venice) but it’s just as good. Take a break, get a latte and a scone and admire all the gorgeous things you bought.

4. Amoeba Music
By now, you’ve got shoes and clothes. You’re caffeinated and ready to go. Head back up Sunset (toward Off-Broadway again) and check out Amoeba Music. I know, I know, you get all your music online now, right? Well, me too, for the most part. But, iTunes can get pricey. At Amoeba, if you check in the used section, you can frequently find cds under $9.99. Even new ones that would be much pricier on iTunes. I’m guessing that less people shop Amoeba now so there’s less competition? Whatever the reason, you won’t be sorry you stopped by and it’s a perfect way to wind down after your whirlwind shop-a-thon. Park in the garage or in the little lot out back.

And so ends your Sunset shopping extravaganza. If, after all this, you need a drink, Cat & the Fiddle is right down the road. Have a pint for me. Cheers.
