baskinrobbinstn08-07-08As locals, we know that Los Angeles boasts the dopest party and fashion scenes in the world. From miniature terriers to pregnant tummies, rhinestoned fingernails to bandanas, everything and anything has the potential to be the next big trend. The L.A. area is also the birthplace of some of the biggest and most delicious restaurant chains in the country. Check out some of these L.A. native eating spots and embrace your Los Angeles-ness this summer. Not only will you be grubbing your little heart out, you’ll be taking in some L.A. history.

- Baskin Robbins: Glendale is more than just the BMW capital of the world; it’s also the birthplace of 31 flavors!
- California Pizza Kitchen: In 1985, Beverly Hills was blessed with this place. Try their barbecue chicken pizza or humus appetizer.
- Carl’s Jr.: The first two Carls Jr.’s were built in Anaheim and Brea.
- Denny’s: Lakewoooooood! Thanks for being the home of the first Denny’s.
- Fatburger: An amazing burger spot that’s been in L.A. since the 1950’s. These geniuses put eggs in burgers. Who woulda thunk it?
- Hot dog on a Stick: Founded in Venice Beach back when it was called Muscle Beach. Vegetarian options, too. Haaaaaay!
- In-N-Out: Founded in Baldwin Park. Low-price, high-quality food. Every Los Angeles native (and most Californians) use this place to make their east coast friends jealous.
- Johnny Rockets: Another fantastic burger joint.
- McDonalds: Yeah, I know. You’re surprised, too? McDonalds started out in San Bernardino and then went on to take over the whole world.
- Pinkberry: One of the most popular yogurt spot was established here in L.A.
- Pink’s Hot dogs: Founded on Melrose and La Brea. Star-sightings, yummy hot dogs, and plenty of cool people to talk to while you’re waiting in line.
winchelles08-07-08- Taco Bell: Thank the city of Downey for the cheapest and greatest post-club hopping food of all time.
- Tommy’s Burger: The original burger joint on Beverly and Rampart is still serving happy customers.
- Winchell’s: Temple City born! Winchell’s is so good that the legendary rapper, Ice Cube, paid homage to the donut shop in one of his songs.

Most of these were not just born and bred locally, but they went global after being born in L.A.!
