TEUK_BRM_071208Hey Ho! Let’s Go… buy this album! The Enemy UK’s new release “We’ll Live and Die in These Towns” hits US stores and the digital landscape August 5, 2008. This CD is, without a doubt, the British album you have been waiting for, even if you didn’t realize you were waiting for a CD by one hell of a brit-punk band. Comprised of vocalist/guitarist Tom Clarke, bassist Andy Hopkins and drummer Liam Watts, this trio of Brits recently signed with Warner Bros. Records. To coincide with the release of this album, The Enemy UK is making the voyage to the US this summer to share their amazing sound with us Yanks.

Finally the little island across the big Atlantic pond has given us a band that isn’t trying to figure out if they want to sound like U2 or Radiohead. The Enemy UK knows what they want to sound like: a punk band in a post-punk world.

While first listening to “We’ll Live and Die in These Towns” you may wonder when the Sex Pistols put out a new CD but immediately after taking the time to listen to it once more through you’ll quickly realize that The Enemy UK is much more complex and layered than any sound-alike band.

This is a band that isn’t afraid to be gritty, raw and yet, simultaneously produced and polished. Each track is a constant exercise in finding the balance between the extremes of sound and each track manages to successfully do just that. Songs like “Aggro,” “Had Enough” and the title track perfectly mix drum beats, guitar riffs and lyrical angst in such a way that you will find yourself wanting to shake your fists in the air, quit your day job, and re-introduce safety pins into your fashion accessories. While the track Technodancephobia will make you drive to your favorite club and insist tell the DJ that he would be a bloody idiot for not pumping the speakers full of this song.

Over the course of the 11 tracks that comprise “We’ll Live and Die in These Towns,” The Enemy UK prove they are a truly versatile band that are going to continue to make songs that delight and surprise. The Enemy UK just might be the British music revolution we’ve been hoping for. Finally, from the country that used to manufacture some of the greatest bands but has lately only given us redundant anthem bands and crazy girls with unfocused sound, comes something the British can be proud of. The Enemy UK are honest, real, perfectly accented and will, without a doubt, make a huge impact on the history of music.

If you’re so punk rock that you are too broke to buy the whole album, download these tracks: Aggro You’re Not Alone, We’ll Live and Die in These Towns.
