Well, over a million of us have done it so far in the last week, so I guess there’s nothing to be ashamed of about it: We’ve waited in line, probably for hours and hours, just to get the lastest must-have toy productivity enhancer: the iPhone.
Well, there’s one more reason why every foodie needs one of these. And I say needs because how many times in the life of a foodie are you just dumbfounded as to what to eat? I myself have actually skipped meals simply because I couldn’t decide.
Enter Urbanspoon.
One part Zagat, one part slot machine, three parts awesome, Urbanspoon is a deceptively simple yet incredibly handy little app for your iPhone:
With a simple shake of your trusty new hand held, three “wheels” will spin away, ending up with a suggestion on where to eat. The three categories are location, cuisine and price. One little shake and all three get shuffled around, directing you to a nearby eatery. Never mind the fact that you don’t even have to enter your location because it knows via GPS where you are… This thing is so cool, the New York Times did a feature on it.
And should you want to restrict your choices, simply lock in a location, a style and / or a price, and Urbanspoon will do the deciding for you.
And if, for whatever reason, you don’t feel like actually shaking your phone to take advantage of the accelerometer (yeah, that’s what that magical thing is called), then you can simply just push the big red “Shake” button.
Never sgtruggle over where to eat again!
