Leave a comment below with your favorite Hollywood Bowl memory (under 50 words please) and you’ll be entered in a drawing to win two tickets to the show. Gnarls Barkley is one of the most awe-inspiring, creative, soul performers that you can see today. When they play the energy is contagious. They will be playing songs from their gleefully anticipated album, The Odd Couple as well as many old favorites. In the spirit of supreme unpredictability and unbridled musicality, Gnarls Barkley share the bill with rising Senegalese star Fallou Dieng; indie rock’s favorite free-form philosophers, Deerhoof, open the show.

Dancing with my best friend to Tom Petty. We were in bleeder seats, but we ran up when he started playing “American Girl” and just let it all out.

Ha! Well this was definitely not one of my better Bowl experiences, but certainly one of the more memorable…

I wanted to go to the Jay-Z show a little while back. I didn’t have a ticket, but showed up hoping to pick one up for a decent price. My buddy who got there shortly before me got a $350 3rd row center pool ticket for $80! I couldn’t find anything at all. So after an hour and a half, my friend gave me instructions on how to walk around the back, and up the hill, and into the forest… and supposedly sneak in. Well, I made it into the wooded area, and that’s as far as I got. But I was content enough to hear the show, and watch it through the trees, and I was doing my little jig up there in the forest. In fact, I was rather shocked to discover that there was a whole community of people up there in the woods above the Bowl. At any rate, after maybe half an hour, I found myself scrambling down the hill, being chased by security threatening to have me arrested for trespassing. Yup! That was the first and last time I’ll ever try that one-

The shuttle ride after Cafe Tacuba last year. Picture a bus full of drunk rowdy Mexicans going from the bowl to the LA Zoo. Such good times! Highlights included chants of “GO BUS DRIVER GO BUS DRIVER” so he would race other cars, screaming at every turn, and singing “Like a Virgin” so the white people could get in on the fun. Good times!

I don’t have an awesome Hollywood Bowl story… yet… I only just moved to the States. But slide me some tix to Gnarls Barkley, and I can pretty much guarantee a cornucopia of mischief and high-jinks on Sunday night that will make for many great stories in years to come.
