LA Wounded: Robbery Thwarted By Guard, Teacher’s Body Returns…

  • Wells Fargo robbery stopped by guards, customers - A man who attempted to rob a Wells Fargo bank on Van Nuys Boulevard this afternoon was subdued by the bank’s security guard and customers who took his gun away in a scuffle, reports the Daily News. One was fired in the confrontation, which grazed the guard’s arm, but he was brought to a local hospital for treatment. The suspect was described as a 40-year-old white male. He was also sent to the hospital for injuries.
  • Drowned Santa Monica teacher’s body returns to Los Angeles - The body of Joey Lutz, 25, a Santa Monica high school teacher who drowned while vacationing in Panama last week was returned to Southern California, reports the Associated Press. His body was found by a fisherman when it washed ashore not far from where he was swept away by waves. A funeral is scheduled for tomorrow.
  • Teen and two others killed in unrelated shootings - Adiel Quezada, 17, was found shot to death at an Athens neighborhood market last night, reports the Los Angeles Times. He had been shot several times outside the store. Authorities are asking for anyone who has information to call detectives at (323) 890-550. In another incident on Loconia Boulevard, two men were killed in a shooting. One man died at the hospital, whereas the body of the other man was found more than two miles away near the intersection of Imperial Highway and Vermont Avenue, police said.
