Ewwww… If you were planning on playing hooky today and going to the beach, you’re better off going to work. Swimmers and beach-goers near Long Beach are being warned to stay out of the four Alamitos Bay Beaches due to a sewage spill near Long Beach Marine Stadium.
Lifeguard Capt. Louie Martinet says a clogged pipeline sent 12,000 gallons of sewage into Spinaker Bay on Saturday.
Health Department spokesman Nelson Kerr says Mother’s Beach, Marine Stadium, Colorado Lagoon and Alamitos Bay are closed to swimmers.
The beaches could reopen as early as Tuesday if bacteria levels return to normal levels. - CBS
