Do you like riding your hog (no, no, no, not your pet pig, I mean your Harley Davidson Motorcycle)? Do you like rocking out like an animal (no, no, no, not the beloved Muppets’ character, I mean like going crazy)? Do you like fairgrounds (umm, big giant open places where they sell fried food)? Yes? Well, then do I have an event for you!
- Harley Davidson Love Ride, the company has put together some pretty big musical acts to perform the final day of their weekend party at the Fairplex in Pomona. The Foo Fighters and ZZ Top will join their collective rocking forces for a show that will highlight a weekend full of demo rides, tattoo booths and flat-track racing. Tickets are $50 and go on sale Saturday at 10am. So rev up your engines, get your ear plugs and get ready for a day of John McCain approved fun!
- Southern rockers Kings of Leon have announced a fall tour in support of their upcoming album Only by the Night. And good news: unlike the upcoming Against Me!/ Ted Leo tour, this one is actually stopping in L.A.! The band will headline a show October 15that the Nokia Theater with The Stills and We Are Scientists opening. Tickets are $40-$45 and go on sale next Friday at noon.
- As previously mentioned in Wednesday’s stellar Music News article, Panic at the Disco and Dashboard Confessional with headline the Rock Band Live tour with support by Plain White T’s and the Cab. The show is October 10th at the Staples Center and tickets go on sale Friday at 10am. Tickets will set you back $30 to $40.
- Now a new generation of people can do the “Dave’s Not Here, Man” routine (badly), as Cheech & Chong are hitting the road for the first time in 20 years with the “Light Up America” tour (I wonder if they are speaking of the sticky-icky?). The tour will hit the Gibson Amphitheater on December 6thand goes on sale today at 4:20pm (you know, because ahhh, I don’t have to tell you). Tickets prices are TBA, so when you log in for tickets the price could be $1, or the price could be $100, in my book it just keeps the suspense up.
- Mike Ness and his Band (which means kinda Social D, not quite Social D) play the Coach House in San Juan Capistrano on December 6th. Tickets are $30 and are on sale today.
- If your like me you’re playing Atmosphere’snew song “You” every chance you get on your iPod. If your like me your also excited to hear that the hip-hop group will play the Wiltern on September 25. If you’re like me your also kinda perplexed because Atmosphere has always been against playing at venues owned by giant faceless promotions companies (remember their “F- Clear Channel Tour” of a few years ago). For those of you who don’t know the Wiltern is a Live Nation venue, which is kinda like Clear Channel only a little less evil. Regardless tickets are $25 and go on sale today.
- Indie favorites TV on the Radioalso play the Wiltern on November 6th. Tickets are $23.50 and go on sale today at 10am.
- Finally, in more proof that rappers love the small venues (or can’t sell out the big ones), Nelly will play the House of Blues- Anaheim on September 14th, followed by the House of Blues- Sunset Strip on September 15th. Tickets are around $50 for each and go on sale Saturday at 10am. I’m guessing it will probably get hot in there
