  • Gunman shoots 20 year old man - Authorities Monday were searching for the killer of a 20-year-old Riverside man who was gunned down in a possible gang-related attack. The victim, whose name was withheld, was shot at 11:20 p.m. Sunday night in the 7300 block of Evans Street and police are currently investigating the shooting. “There is no evidence at this time that confirms the shooting was gang-related,” Hudson said in a statement. “However, all potential leads are being pursued.” Anyone with information call (951) 353-7104.
  • Dog found dead after stolen car recovered - Mary and Craig Michael were less than 20 feet from their vehicle when it was stolen with their 16-year-old dog “Rebel” inside. A couple recovered their sport utility vehicle, which was stolen as they visited Riverside National Cemetery, but it was too late. They say the Ford Excursion was running to keep the air conditioning on for the wolf-malamute mix when a woman drove away with a partner driving behind. Authorities found the vehicle Sunday afternoon, but the thieves had left the dog inside with the windows closed and Rebel died in the heat. No suspects have been arrested.

  • Man fatally shoots himself - A man who led police on a pursuit in a stolen SUV before crashing it in Rosemead died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head, a coroner’s official said this morning. The man’s identity has yet to be confirmed because his body was badly burned in the fire that erupted after the Saturday afternoon crash. It is estimated that he was 50-years-old.  Officials could not determine whether the man shot himself before or after he crashed the vehicle, Winter said.
  • Homeless man stabs teen - Authorities say a 14-year-old girl was stabbed and wounded by a stranger as she walked home from breakfast in Orange County. Police and witnesses say the two girls were across the street when a man covered with dirt and tattoos approached them from behind and stabbed one of them three times in the ribs with a steak knife. The girls fled to a gas station where the victim collapsed while two men from the gas station ran down the suspect and held him until police arrived.  48-year-old David Edward Eddy was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder. The victim’s cuts were treated at a hospital and she was home by late Sunday.
  • Worker suffers electrical shock - A worker suffered an electrical shock today when he touched a high-voltage line at a construction site in the Mar Vista area of Los Angeles, authorities said.  Paramedics sent to the 5000 block of South Slauson Avenue about 10:35 a.m. took the 27-year-old man to a hospital, said d’Lisa Davies of the Los Angeles Fire Department. He was “conscious and alert,” and the accident is under investigation.
