Silent Treatment Concert Review
Well I’m not going to lie. Before I even went to The Cat Club for the Silent Treatment show August 16th, I knew it was going to be great. The energy, dedication, and passion that radiated from their album (that I had the pleasure of reviewing last week) was so heavily reflected in their live show that it blew my mind times ten. I think what struck me most is just the feeling that I was in the presence of rock stars. And honestly I haven’t felt that way at a show in a while. I mean, a lot of the shows I’ve gone to in the recent past have been chock full of emo hairstyles, skinny jeans, and that sort of hipster dance where you’re not quite sure if you’re allowed to show that you actually LIKE the song so you just sorta shake your tush for a while in sync with the mass of other unemotional hip kids around you. But this was such a far cry from all of that.
Seeing Silent Treatment on that little stage was just a powerhouse of arrogance and egotism necessary for this rock band to succeed. That sounds a little negative; but really it’s not. It’s the kind of arrogant affront that makes you interested and excited to watch what’s going on, never wanting to take your eyes off for a minute for fear of what you might miss. The kind of attitude that has gotten a bad rap in the rock and roll world, but that truthfully seems necessary to catapult that type of musical strength from the stage to the audience. It’s like “I know we’re good, but we’re gonna do our damndest to make sure YOU know we’re good too.” I dig it. It’s clear these guys are veteran performers, involving the audience as much as possible. We yipped, hollered, and gyrated with the band, and it was obvious everyone was having a good time.
These guys know how to work a stage. And while it is always my natural inclination to focus mainly on the lead singer, I couldn’t help but notice the other members of the band and how much they were enjoying themselves. You could really just tell from the look on all these guys faces how much they freaking love what they’re doing, and knowing that excites me even more! If you’re looking for a good time I definitely advise you to check out a Silent Treatment show. Here’s a list of their upcoming shows; now go!
