Menus Get Calorie Count

September 2nd, 2008 Written by: Louis· 1 Comment

The California Senate has officially ok’d the new law requiring chain restaurants to display caloric information in their menus. Places like Outback Steakhouse, whose blue cheese and bacon fries come in at more than the USDA recommended amount for an entire day, are no doubt sweating bullets over this one.

The bill still needs to get the Governator’s approval and signature before becoing law. This law is a first nationwide, and could set a wondrful precedent.

With over 16 million overweight Calironians, this is seen as one more step to help curb the obesity epidemic.
