Boy have we got an event for you. I saw these guys and they blew my mind. Their music is like nothing you’ve ever heard before. Keep reading for more information about how you can win your way in to The Balkan Beat Box September 9th.
The best way I can describe them is as a circus, burlesque show, concert, dancehall all mixed into one. The entire focus of BBB is to make connections through music in areas that people normally have issues with. The group has come together to show that great things can come out of bringing everyone’s different together.
Jewish, Gypsy, Arabic, and American are united by hip hop beats and dancehall toasts. BBB’s musical hitch-hiking continues as they mix things up with dub and electronics, juxtaposed with ancient Moroccan and Mediterranean melodies. The band’s uncategorizable sound gives equal weight to soulful acoustic timbres and digital rhythms creating a uniquely organic sound with electronic elements.
How do you win!?
All you have to do is leave a comment below with the name of a country that you would like to visit (that has not already been listed) and you will be entered in a drawing to win! We have got three pairs of tickets to give-away, so enter to win today (the sooner you do, the more likely you are to get the country you want!) and we’ll announce the winners Saturday, September 6th!
- When: September 9th at 8pm.
- Where: The El Rey Theater
- Info: All Ages Welcome
- Tickets: $18.50 - Buy Here

I would love to visit Albania- both for its wild gypsy music scene… but also because one of my best friends who sadly died a few years back is from there, and I never got the chance to see him in his home country.

I’d love to visit Paris, for the Eiffel Tower, the Louvre, the Arc de Triomphe - but most especially, I’ve wanted to see the Notre Dame Cathedral since I was a kid. My brother went there last year and described the experience. The cathedral was stained a darker grey than usual due to unseasonal precipitation, but my brother, with a beignet in one hand and an umbrella in the other, experienced the bells. And I’m just like, geez. I so wish.
