Labor Day has come and gone and the fall premieres are set to begin, making this the last week for the Summer TV Picks. Enjoy.
Reality Rundown
Time to lay to rest the endless onslaught of lame network reality filler. And what better to way than taking one last ride on that pain train?
- There are two opportunities tonight as ABC trots out another episode of its inexplicable “Wanna Bet?” series. For those who haven’t watched, also known as Americans, this series features contestants performing wacky stunts while a panel of pseudo-celebrities wager on the outcome. It’s yours at 9:00.
- It wouldn’t be summer without “Big Brother”. The tenth installment of the series is apparently its best ever, at least that’s what the commercials claim. Catch it at 9:00 on CBS before the good shows come back.
News & Docs
- After the one-week pat on the back that was the Democratic National Convention we now get the potentially scandal-ridden Republican National Convention all week on all networks. You can catch it live at 7:00 or taped at 10:00 or follow along in real time, all the time, on C-SPAN.
- We’s scintillating “The Secret Lives of Women” returns tonight at 10:00. This new episode of the docuseries deals with the world of specialty models. We’re talking foot fetish models, women who dress up like babies and a variety of other bizarre beauties.
Scripted Bliss
- It’s ba-ack. Kinda. West Beverly Hills High returns to the small screen tonight with the zip code-centric “90210”. The CW has a two hour series premiere tonight starting at 8:00 with back-to-back episodes of the long-anticipated new series complete with the returns of Jennie Garth and Shannen Doherty.
- It’s ba-ack. Actually it is. FX’s brilliant “The Shield” returns for its final season as Vic Mackey deals with threats to his family and the investigations of federal agents. It’s been more than a year since “The Shield” was on the air, let’s hope it was worth the wait.
Free Movie of the Night
- Sing it with me. And I-eee-I will always love you-oo! Yes, “The Bodyguard” is on free TV tonight, more specifically VH1 at 8:00. Now you can revisit a day when Kevin Costner was a movie star and Whitney Houston wasn’t the crazy, drug-addled wife on “Being Bobby Brown”.
