In San Deigo, Rebecca D’Aoust, 56, died yesterday after she was allegedly struck on the head with a hammer or another blunt object by her own 14-year-old daughter, also named Rebecca D’Aoust. On Sunday the daughter was arrested and the mother died in the hospital Monday from the fatal blow. The mother worked as a counselor at a San Diego elementary school.

Her 14-year-old daughter was arrested following Sunday morning’s attack in the family’s Scripps Ranch home about 15 miles north of downtown San Diego. The girl is being held on suspicion of murder. [LATimes.com]

It is still unclear what caused the daughter to commit such a violent act. D’Aoust, 14, is expected to be arraigned today by the Supreme Court where they will decide if she should be tried as an adult for her actions. They jury will be able to consider the circumstances and the severity of the murder before deciding whether to try her as an adult or a juvenile.

A new twist in the murder case of Lawrence “Larry” King, 15, has occurred yesterday. 14-year-old Brandon McInerney’s is stating that E.O. Green Junior High School in Oxnard was partly to blame for King’s murder because they allowed him to explore his sexuality, dress in feminine clothing, and wear make-up .

Educators should have moved aggressively to quell rising tensions between the two boys, which began when King openly flirted with McInerney, said Deputy Public Defender William Quest.

Instead, administrators were so intent on nurturing King as he explored his sexuality, allowing him to come to school wearing feminine makeup and accessories, that they downplayed the turmoil that his behavior was causing on campus, Quest said.

For those of you who don’t remember, King was shot in the back of the head by McInerney first- period computer class on February 12th at Oxnard Middle School.

Happy Cinco de Mayo!  The 5th of May always signifies the beginning of summer fun to me.  Which, of course, makes me think of summer movies!  I can’t wait for Hellboy 2 and The Sex in the City Movie.  But, there are some movies that I’d rather go to the dentist than sit through.  How about you?

Well it’s the final straw people. We’re killing our polar bears. Yes you, me, everyone! A federal judge in Oakland has ordered the Interior Department to decide by May 15 if the polar bear should be protected as an endangered species due to global warming causing the ice to melt. Because of our lifestyle polar bears have had to resort to “cannibalism and drowned while trying to swim between large gaps in the ice.” As a result their reproductive rates for females have dropped and survival rates for cubs has declined.

The polar bear makes its living hunting arctic seals when ice covers the polar seas. As the ice has retreated for longer periods every spring and summer, the fasting period for the bears has grown longer, weakening them and disrupting their reproduction.

Stephen Miller, an experienced trainer, was killed by the 5-year-old bear during the making of a promotional video. The 700-pound, 71/2-foot-tall grizzly bear, which appeared most recently in “Semi-Pro,” bite the trainer on the neck and he was not able to be revived by the paramedics. “They were filming it and the bear started licking his (Stephen Miller’s) face and then all of a sudden it just bit him,” Wilson said. “He was just really upset and didn’t know why it happened.” Pepper spray was used to subdue and contain the bear. It is unclear whether or not the bear will be euthanized at this point.

Now friends and colleagues of an animal trainer killed are saying that the grizzly does not deserve to be euthanized. The bear was not trying to hurt his trainer, “This bear has never shown aggression,” Almquist said. “It was a flash bite, a real quick . . . bam. Unfortunately, we are built like tissue paper compared to them.” Friends of Miller are calling it a “freak accident” and stressing that the bear did not intend to kill him.
