LA.CityZine.com is a collaborative site, which means we’re always looking for new ideas and contributors.

Writing for LA.CityZine will give you good experience and exposure. After all, thousands of people will be reading your work every day. Plus, you get the chance to write about something you love.

We don’t have deadlines — if you can write regularly for us that’s all that matters. Our entire staff is volunteer based, we pay in public recognition, booze, press passes, screenings, and the occasional swag.

If that appeals to you, here’s what you should do about becoming part of the LA.CityZine.com team:

Ask yourself: What would I like to write about?

Good writing with style, personality and a dash of LA, that’s what matters. There are areas we’re not covering and others we could use more coverage of. We could list everything we want to cover, but we want to cover almost everything in the City. Just because you haven’t seen something covered on the site, it doesn’t mean we want to avoid the subject. It just means no one has been writing about it. You could be that person.

Ask yourself: Will I be able to write regularly?

If you cannot commit a few hours a week to LA.CityZine, please do not apply. We need people who are familiar with our style and who have the time to post at least twice a week. It’s a genuine commitment, a passion for writing and Los Angeles are a must. We’re willing to lower the post rate if you’ve got a particularly engaging topic, as is often the case we’re looking for quality over quantity. Don’t get us wrong we always need more content and wont turn you away if you want to write more we just need people who can write consistently.

Still want the one way ticket to awesome-town?

1. Send us evidence of past writing (personal blogs are ok) and a brief paragraph about yourself, let us know what topic or general areas you’d like to tackle (don’t worry about being type-cast).
2. Send us a 250 to 300 word piece reflecting a current event/theme on your dream subject. Write as if we’ll post it, if it’s good we will. (we will give you credit if we do).
